Sheridan-Kalorama, the area of Kalorama (Greek for “beautiful vista”) located west of Connecticut Ave., is one of the most exclusive residential enclaves in the District of Columbia. The neighborhood is a mixture of single-family mansions, embassies, museums, private schools, and, like 2123 California Street, luxury condominiums. Sheridan-Kalorama has been home to seven United States Presidents, including Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower. More information about the neighborhood can be found in this Washington Post profile from 1996.
Its residential and quiet streets are deceptively close to all that Washington has to offer:
- Plentiful, zoned on-street parking
- Whole Foods Market, Harris Teeter (opening soon), Safeway
- Washington Sports Club, Mint Gym
- Mitchell Park, renovated in 2004
- Dupont Circle & Woodley Park Metro stops
- Some of the city’s finest and most varied ethnic restaurants
- The Dupont Farmers’ Market (on Sundays)
- Vibrant 18th Street nightlife of Adams Morgan
